Ocean Paw Project was founded in 2025 after witnessing the suffering of beach dogs and cats during a surf trip to Taghazout. Seeing the hardship these animals faced — and the courageous work already being carried out by SARA Morocco and other local shelters — inspired us to take action. As surfers and visitors, we felt it was time to give something back to the community, make a real difference, and support the strays who have no voice.
We are dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable animals across Morocco through humane support, compassion, and community partnership. Ocean Paw Project is currently in the process of applying for charity registration. We are governed by three trustees and operate transparently while this process is underway.
As a small, grassroots non-profit, every donation makes an immediate and meaningful difference. We take no salaries and have no paid administrative staff — our work is entirely volunteer-led.
This means that every pound you give directly supports veterinary treatment, sterilisation, vaccinations, food, and emergency care for stray animals in Morocco.
The only organisational cost we cover is a small monthly fee for website hosting and essential online services, which we keep as low as possible to ensure funds go where they are needed most — to the animals.

To provide compassionate support for stray animals in Morocco by delivering emergency veterinary care, sterilisation (TNVR), vaccinations, food, and safe transport, all guided by volunteer-led governance and transparency.
TNVR (Trap- Neuter- Vaccine- Release) We fund humane sterilisation and vaccination programmes that prevent rabies, reduce stray populations ethically, and improve long-term animal welfare.
We help animals suffering from injury, disease, or neglect by providing urgent medical treatment through our trusted veterinary partners such as SARA Morocco.
Rabies is still a significant public health risk in Morocco. By vaccinating community animals, we protect both animals and people, including tourists and local residents.
We work with established Moroccan animal welfare organisations who share our ethics, ensuring funds are used effectively and responsibly.
Where safe and appropriate, Ocean Paw Project supports the responsible adoption of vulnerable dogs and cats through verified local partners, ensuring each animal is matched with a suitable, long-term homes.
I'm Omega, a cheerful, sociable and docile senior. Having been left behind by my previous owner, I'm looking for a new family to love, and to be be loved. In the meantime I'm having a good time at the SARA farm refuge, where I live freely amongst dogs and cats. I get along great with all my peers - regardless of their age and size - and am very friendly with people, too. My age doesn't show much; I'm as lively and curious as a puppy. If you bring treats you immediately get my full attention as I'm very food motivated and eager to learn. My future home should come with a garden/yard and other pets, or at least very frequent play dates.
I'm Betty, a cheerful and playful soul looking for fun and cuddles. Me and my siblings were born into misery, loosing our mum to poison. We puppies were lucky to be picked off the streets and to grow up in the safety of the farm refuge, becoming a lively and confident bunch of youngsters. When my favourite SARA people come to see me I cannot stop wagging my tail and showering them with affection. I also love running around and playing with my dog friends. My greatest desire is to have a family of my own. If you're an active person who enjoys outdoor activities and has time to take me to playdates with peers I'd love to become your loyal companion!
I'm Panda, a bouncy bundle of joy. My life hasn't been easy all along. Me and a few others were captured when we were young and taken to a scary place called the dog pound. Luckily the people of SARA found me there and took me back to their refuge. At the farm, I get on well with my peers and like playing fetch and catch. Human companionship is my top priority and I can't wait to find a family of my own. When I see my caretakers I wag my tail vigorously and dance on my hind legs. For belly rubs, I roll on my back and hand my paw. Please excuse my exuberance and play-biting - its just a way to grab your attention. You can teach me how to express joy in a calmer manner. If you love and care for me, and provide me with space to zoom around and let off steam I'll be dedicated to you forever!
